A cooperative game where you take shared control of a Taxi in the apocalypse, driving helpless passengers across a radioactive wasteland filled with zombies and bandits and monsters. Taxi your passengers safely and you get paid! Use that money to upgrade your guns and vehicles and be a better taxi service next time!
Gather your crew and head out to fight zombies, bandits, and more while you take people from Billowfort to Spirowood!
Each player gets to choose which crew member they want to while out in the wasteland.
Someone drives.
Someone shoots.
And someone yells from the back while NOBODY IS DOING THEIR JOB RIGHT?! CMON! HURRY UP BOB!!! SHOOT 'EM!
Take shared control of a single vehicle and navigate as a team.
It’s a constant turf war between the bandits and monsters, so the land is always in flux, you never know what the day will bring.
Zombies. Skeletons. Bandit gangs!! Scorpion men? Walking bombs?! Radation-spewing-leech-crawler-3-legged mutation?!? Yuck. It's gonna be a tough ride. Buckle up back there!
Boost your Taxi's power with upgrades out in the field and by completing quests from safe zones along the journey. Sadly, the Chief hasn't found a way to retain that power between trips so you'll need to re-acquire those powerups every time.
Use money earned from taxiing passengers to upgrade weapons and vehicles for more explosive action!
Plus you can visit Jerry's shop with some collected Spare Parts and he might be able to craft you something brand spanking new.
Annnd make sure you do all the above without causing your passengers to mutate into flesh-eating zombies MID-RIDE
While you and your crew are immune to the radiation, your passengers are not. It will increase intensity over time and lead to a slow and painful death (for them, not you).
What about Xbox or Switch?
We're in the process of figuring this out. If you work at Nintendo or Microsoft send us a message we'd love to work with you!
IDEALLY this game is on ALL platforms (including VR and iPad etc).
We will update this website when we have our game on those platforms.
What if I don't have friends?
You're funny. But also, this game is best played with friends. While technically yes you could play this game solo, it would be more for bragging rights / feat-of-strength achievement ya know? Think of It Takes Two, Overcooked, Mario Party, Lovers In A Dangerous Space Time, or Pico Park -- While they may be playable solo, most people think of their co-op aspect with friends when they imagine those games. We're aiming to do the same here.
(But to unsarcastically answer this question: we do PLAN to support a single-player mode, just not on launch)
What about Online Co-op?
Bro, you and me both. TLDR: "v2", a patch, a future milestone, or maybe just a sequel to the game I don't know.
Built using Unity, there are a variety of services we can make this online from UGS (Unity Gaming Services) to Photon and others... However, the truth is we don't have a ton of experience building online multiplayer games, so the learning curve to build a console game was steep enough and we wanted to start local.
Post-Pandy the gaming industry has seen a large influx of Single-Player or even 1-person-per-console-multiplayer games and at the very least making a new COUCH co-op game would stand out on its own. But yes we completely see the reason to have this be an online game (and actually initially wanted it to be, but decided to cut that scope in favor of actually releasing a great game first).
Price? How much is this gonna run me?
$29.99.
We know this isn't AAA so there's no reason to charge AAA prices.
Estimated release date?
Our target is early access by end of 2025. TBD if that changes but the target feels right.
We started development on this in December 2022, and had a pretty good demo at GDEX in June 2023. We worked a bunch over the subsequent 8-9 months and gave another great demo at GDC in March 2024. Then in October of 2024 we demoed at GDEX again for another amazing round of feedback.
Give it a few more months of dev + time to prep store pages and marketing materials and I think our timeline makes sense.
Get Tombstone Taxi on your wishlist today and be notified when it goes live! Target platforms are PS5 and Steam for now with Xbox and Switch to follow later on.
